It pays to port over to Verizon

With AT&T having exclusive rights to the iPhone, they have definitely been getting more customers, possibly ones who would have gone to Verizon. Similarly, people who aren’t sure which carrier to go with might go with Sprint over AT&T, Verizon, etc. To gain customers who’s contracts have expired from AT&T or Sprint, Verizon is paying for those people to port their numbers over.

The good guys over at BGR managed to get some official Verizon documents (pictured below) stating that Sprint and AT&T users will receiver $50 credit or the $35 activation fee waived, respectively. However, this only applies if you are signing up for a new 2 year contract. This promotion will keep going until October 31, so maybe if you’re thinking about switching over, hopefully your contract from AT&T or Sprint expires between now and the end of October. It will probably get a lot of new customers from rival carriers, and Verizon will probably bring it back if it’s successful.
