Dell Inspiron Mini 9’s may not have integrated 3G?

Despite some earlier reports and statements coming from inside Dell, its now being speculated that the Dell Inspiron Mini 9’s that are being sold here in the US do not have that previously mentioned integrated 3G.

If you remember back, the statement regarding the inclusion of the 3G came from Dell spokeswoman Anne Camdenm and she mentioned that “there’s a hidden bonus, however: an integrated 3G card.” Of course it was not mentioned just which of the Mini 9’s have that integrated 3G card and now its looking like its just those that will be sold outside the US, namely through Vodafone.

The latest report is coming courtesy of Gizmodo, who are claiming that a “solid source close to the matter” told them that the “mini 9s sold so far in the US don’t have the antenna or radio for 3G.” I wish I could offer a little more on this subject, personally I was looking towards the Dell Mini 9 with a big reason because of that 3G availability. They nice bit is that they did go on to mention that the Mini 9 will have 3G included by the end of the year, perhaps the current models being sold from Dell will not have it, and then (when a carrier is announced) the carriers will carry new models with the 3G included.

Its important to keep in mind, this comes just from a “solid source close to the matter” and nothing is official yet, I am pretty sure things will clear up soon on this subject, if not by Dell then by those ready to tear it apart upon purchase once its readily available.
