Exciting news about The Sims 3 release date was just announced on August 20, 2008 at the Leipzig Game Convention held in Leipzig, Germany. Electronics Arts, Inc. has confirmed that The Sims 3 will be available all around the world to retailers and digital downloaders alike on February 20, 2009. The Sims 3 is the highly anticipated follow-up PC game to the popular multi-platform The Sims 2 franchise.

The premise of The Sims games emphasize the power to control manipulatable beings known as Sims as well as the virtual environment around them. Sims’ looks and personality are completely decided by the player. Through strategic decisions, players are meant to help their Sims succeed (or fail) in life through such things as building relationships with other Sims, attaining enough skills to obtain job promotions, or just taking out the wretched garbage. In addition to controlling an endless amount of Sims, players are able to create and furnish houses from the ground up to create an atmosphere that is unique to each different player’s tastes.

Alongside the release of the bare-back version of The Sims 3, EA plans to release a limited collector’s edition that will include:

  • The Sims 3 game for PC
  • The Sims 3 Plumbob USB drive with matching green carabiner. (The green Plumbob is that ubiquitous symbol within The Sims that hovers over each and every controllable Sim.)
  • Exclusive in-game Italian-style sports car
    Tips and hints guide
  • The Sims 3 Plumbob stickers

In addition to the collector’s edition, select retailers will be offering anxious pre-orderers of The Sims 3 an exclusive in-game vintage sports car and a collectible poster that provides a first look at the actual playable neighborhood.

    The Sims 3 Create-A-Sims

The Sims 3 will introduce a brand new engine that will allow players to completely immerse their unique Sims in a newly developed “living” and seamless neighborhood where Sims can explore such locations as the beach, mountains, or town center freely. Unlike The Sims 2, where a player’s actions only affected those Sims who lived in a particular household, what you do on one side of the neighborhood may have lasting effects on the entire populace. The will be no more gripes about familial snow globes where the family who lived next door to your family enjoyed the everlasting bounties of youth while the family you were playing grew old and decrepit over time. The Sims 3 promises a neighborhood that is truly alive and constantly evolving.

The Sim creation tool has also underwent some augmentation. Players are now able to combine up to 5 traits (brave, artistic, kleptomaniac, clumsy, paranoid, romantic, and more) which will provide multifarious outcomes. The Sims 3 will introduce a easier to use and more powerful engine enabling player’s to create more life-like Sims through customizing a Sim’s hair, skin tone, and body type. A Sim’s actual body will be completely exploitable in The Sims 3, which is a huge improvement over the limited choices of body types (2 to be exact) offered in The Sims 2. The Sims 3 house furniture

February 2009 may introduce the eve of completely digital television broadcasting but The Sims fans may have their hands too full to even care when they can createtheir own reality shows once this game hits store shelves.

For those who own The Sims 2 and The Sims 2: Freetime expansion pack, you can get a quick peak at The Sims 3 if you have one of your Sims play The Sims 3 on their desktop.
